Climate:
Tropical temperatures, low humidity and Ocean breezes.
The temperature varies very little during the year:
Day temperatures: 27 to 30º Celsius, 80 to 87º Fahrenheit
Night temperatures: 21 to 23º Celsius, 70 to
75º Fahrenheit
Short showers are common during the less windy season (mid-January
to mid-June)

Documents and Visas:

Make sure the date of your trip is at least 6 months prior to the
expiration date on your passport. If you hold a European Passport
you should not require a visa, but the regulations change from time
to time so check with your closest Brazilian embassy.
- Visitors from the USA, Canada, New-Zealand and Australia,
you will need to obtain a visa directly from the closest Brazilian
Embassy or Consulate, either via mail or personally
(usually faster).

Money:

Brazilian
Real - Average rate over the last 12 months: 3.1 Reais to the Euro
and 2.6 Reais to the US Dollar.

- Credit Cards :
Visa and MasterCard are accepted in SOME restaurants and shops.
- Cash : The closest
ATM is about 1 hour away (Bela Cruz). Also, if you need to exchange
foreign currency to Reais, we recommend you do it in the airport
or before you leave Fortaleza. If possible, ask for small bills
and remember that cash if preferred over Traveler's Checks.

- Water : We
prefer bottled water but there are locations where water is drinkable.
If
your only destination in Brazil is Preá (via Fortaleza Airport)
you do NOT need to take the Yellow Fever vaccine or Malaria medication.

Voltage and electronic equipment:
The voltage in North-East Brazil is 220
Volts, as in most European countries, (110 V. in the USA).
Both European and American style plugs fit in the standard
Brazilian sockets but you should check your electronics for
input voltage before using them.
Tipping:
Standard
tip is 10% but... it is up to you. Some restaurants automatically
include the 10% so ask or check your bill.

Transportation from Fortaleza:
Private
transport (airport transfer)
This
is a private transport in an air conditionned vehicle (privately
owned taxi), that will bring you directly from the airport or where
you wish in Fortaleza directly to Vila Prea. This transport option
is fast and flexible, transfer to Prea is 3h30, cost is R$ 300 each
way for up to 3 people.
4
x 4 vehicle
This
is a private transport in a 4x4 truck (Mitsubishi L200, or similar).
Fits up to 4 people comfortably plus kite / windsurfing equipment
if needed. All 4x4´s have air conditioning and music. You
are picked up at the airport or anywhere in Fortaleza. Transfer
to Prea is about 3h30, cost is R$ 450 each way.
Bus
"Rendenção" is the bus line between Fortaleza
and Jericoacoara. High season, July through February, "Rendenção"
offers a common bus at 9.00 am, 10:30 am, and 6:30 pm. It leaves
from the bus station ('rodoviária') in Fortaleza, this trip
is about 6 to 7 hours. The bus stops in Jijoca (15 km from Prea)
and changes to the Jericoacaora 4 x 4 bus, ask the hostess to stop
at the beach in Prea and we will pick you up. Cost is approximately
R$ 40.
Helicopter
Transports take 45 minutes from Fortaleza to Jeri. Cost is approximately
R$ 6,500, email us for reservations.
On-site buggy rentals
Dune buggies are the most widely used vehicles in the area. Buggy
rentals are available with or without drivers.
We can book your private transport, 4x4 vehicle, helicopter transport
and/or buggy rentals for you. However, all bus tickets are sold
in the airport and bus station in Fortaleza.
